מחקר אקדמי על שיטת EFT-Tapping
על שיטת EFT-Tapping, פורסמו למעלה ממאה מחקרים מבוססי ראיות, על פי הקריטריונים שהוגדרו על ידי איגוד הפסיכולוגים האמריקני- the American Psychological Association's Division 12 Task Force on Empirically Validated Treatments.
הקריטריונים לטיפול מבוסס אמפירית מחייבים שתי קבוצות ביקורת, אשר מנוהלות על ידי קבוצות חוקרים עצמאיות.
על מנת שטיפול יוגדר כ"יעיל", המחקר מוכרח להדגים כי הטיפול יעיל יותר מרשימת המתנה, פלסבו, או מטיפול מבוסס ויעיל אחר.
שיטת EFT-Tapping נחקרה בעשר מדינות שונות עד היום, על ידי חוקרים ממוסדות אקדמיים מהנחשבים בעולם, וביניהם: ביה"ס לרפואה של הרווארד, אוניברסיטת ברקלי בקליפורניה, אוניברסיטת ניו יורק, אוניברסיטת סטפורדשייר באנגליה, אוניברסיטת לונד בשבדיה, אוניברסיטת אנקרה בטורקיה, אוניברסיטת סנטו תומס בפיליפינים, ביה"ח ליסטר באנגליה, אוניברסיטת בונד ואוניברסיטת גריפית' באוסטרליה, ועוד.

תקציר המאמר: הפסיכולוג ד"ר דוד פיינשטיין מביה"ס לרפואה של אוניברסיטת ג'ון הופקינס בבולטימור, ארה"ב, עורך במאמר זה סקירה ביקורתית של 18 מתוך עשרות מאמרים אקדמיים על שיטת EFT-Tapping.
סקירה זו מובילה למסקנה כי לטיפול בשיטה ישנה יעילות גבוהה, כמו גם תוצאות סטטיסטיות חיוביות נוספות, אשר אינן יכולות להיות מקריות, לאחר מספר טיפולים מצומצם יחסית. נמצא כי על פי קריטריונים מבוססי-ראיות של אגודת הפסיכולוגים האמריקנית, הטיפול נחל הצלחה במספר מצבים, וביניהם גם דיכאון והפרעת דחק פוסט טראומטית (PTSD). מכניזם נוירולוגי העשוי להיות קשור בממצאים החזקים והמפתיעים הללו, נלקח גם הוא בחשבון.
